Baidoa, 30 May 2026: The newly elected Members of the House of Representatives of the Southwest State of Somalia were formally sworn into office today during a ceremony held at the Parliament Building in Baidoa.
The oath of office was administered to all 95 Members by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Southwest State of Somalia, Hon. Ahmed Ali Muse.
The ceremony brought together presidential candidates, representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia, traditional elders, civil society representatives and other distinguished guests.
Through the oath, the Members formally assumed their constitutional mandate and responsibilities as representatives of the people.
Following the swearing-in, Hon. Abdullahi Adan Ali “Shaleetey” assumed office as Interim Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Southwest State of Somalia.
