Overview & Mandate
The House of Representatives of the Southwest State of Somalia is the legislative branch of the State Government and the representative institution of its people.
The current legislature is the Third House of Representatives and the first directly elected State Parliament in Somalia. Its 95 Members were elected on 10 May 2026, while the Speaker and Deputy Speakers were elected on 4 June 2026.
The House performs legislative, representative, oversight and budgetary functions in accordance with the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure.

Our Constitutional Mandate
Law-Making: Enacting, reviewing and approving laws that serve the public interest and uphold the Constitution.
Representation: Representing the people and safeguarding their rights, interests and aspirations.
Oversight: Holding the Executive and public institutions accountable through parliamentary scrutiny.
Budget & Public Finance: Reviewing and approving the State budget and overseeing the responsible management of public resources.

Our mandate is rooted in the Constitution and guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and service to the people of South West State of Somalia.
