Speaker And Deputy Speakers Receive United Nations Delegation

Baidoa, 23 June 2026: The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Southwest State of Somalia, Dr. Mahad Mohamed Sh. Hassan, together with the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adan Hassan Mohamed (Osama), and the Second Deputy Speaker, Hon. Shamso Mohamed Yaroow, received a delegation from the United Nations Political Office.

The delegation was led by Vikram Parekh, Head of the United Nations Political Office in Somalia, and Morgan Dube, Head of the United Nations Political Office in the Southwest State.

Discussions focused on the political situation across the Southwest State and opportunities for joint action in reconciliation, state-building, decentralised governance, and the promotion of peace and security.

The Parliamentary Leadership called on the United Nations officials to strengthen their contribution to regional development, deepen cooperation with state institutions, and expand support for the Southwest State Government.

The United Nations delegation reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Southwest State Government and supporting efforts related to stability, security, state-building, and inclusive political processes.
