Baidoa, 18 June 2026: The Speaker of the House of Representatives and Acting President of the Southwest State of Somalia, Dr. Mahad Mohamed Sh. Hassan, appointed Ahmed Mohamed Omar as Secretary General of the House of Representatives.
The appointment was made in consideration of the functions of the House and the need to effectively coordinate its parliamentary programme.
Recognising Ahmed Mohamed Omar’s competence, knowledge, and contribution to national development, the Speaker encouraged him to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and efficiency in advancing the priority work of the House.
Dr. Mahad wished the new Secretary General success in fulfilling his duties and prayed that Almighty Allah would enable him to discharge the significant responsibilities entrusted to him.
The Speaker also expressed his appreciation to the outgoing Secretary General, Abdirisaq Ahmed Yasin, for his valuable service to the House of Representatives of the Southwest State of Somalia
