Baidoa, 14 June 2026: The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Southwest State of Somalia, Dr. Mahad Mohamed Sh. Hassan, accompanied by the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adan Hassan Mohamed, and the Second Deputy Speaker, Hon. Shamso Mohamed Yaroow, attended a luncheon hosted at the Southwest State Presidential Palace by President Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madoobe in honour of the traditional elders of the Southwest State.
Discussions focused on strengthening unity and social cohesion, as well as cooperation in promoting security, reconciliation, and development across the Southwest State of Somalia.
The traditional elders were commended for their significant contribution to the Southwest State elections, particularly their role in mobilising citizens to participate in the one-person, one-vote elections.
The leadership was also encouraged to govern fairly and to convene an inclusive reconciliation forum for the communities of the Southwest State of Somalia.
