Baidoa, 16 June 2026: The Speaker of the House of Representatives and Acting President of the Southwest State of Somalia, Dr. Mahad Mohamed Sh. Hassan, accompanied by the Second Deputy Speaker, Hon. Shamso Mohamed Yaroow, received the newly appointed Commander of the Southwest State Presidential Guard, Captain Abdirahman Nishow Ali, and the Acting Commander, Major Mohamud Wali Rashid.
The meeting focused on strengthening security in Baidoa and maintaining the safety and stability of the Presidential Palace.
Dr. Mahad instructed the Command to reinforce security at the Presidential Palace and facilitate access while safeguarding the safety and dignity of Members of the House.
The Presidential Guard Command assured the Acting President that it would strengthen security while fully respecting human dignity and the privileges accorded to Members of the House.
Dr. Mahad also thanked the Southwest State security forces and the security forces of the Federal Government of Somalia for safeguarding the elections held across the Southwest State and for their continued efforts to protect government officials and maintain public security
