17th June 2026, Baidoa: The Speaker of the House of Representatives and Acting President of the Southwest State of Somalia, Dr. Mahad Mohamed Sh. Hassan, conducted a working visit to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
During the visit, he met with the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Hon. Iman Ali Abdi, who briefed him on the Ministry’s activities and the services it provides to communities across the Southwest State.
The Minister reported that progress had been made in addressing energy shortages and drought conditions through projects providing electricity and clean water. He added that several other projects were currently being implemented in different areas of the Southwest State.
Dr. Mahad instructed the Minister to intensify efforts to address drought conditions and expand projects aimed at improving access to energy and clean water for communities across the Southwest State of Somalia.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Acting President toured the Ministry’s offices and reviewed the work of its various departments.
