Dr. Mahad Mohamed Sheikh Hassan is an economist, academic and public sector leader with extensive experience in governance, economic policy and institutional management.

He previously served as a Member of Somalia’s National Economic Council and the Somali Petroleum Authority; Recurrent Cost and Reform Financing Coordinator at the Federal Ministry of Education; Integrity and Anti-Corruption Coordinator at the Federal Ministry of Justice; Policy and Planning Adviser to the National Independent Electoral Commission; and Member of the Integrity Committee for the 2017 presidential election.

At SIMAD University, he served as Dean, Examination Chairperson, Deputy Examination Chairperson and Head of the Part-Time Programme. He also served as Executive Director of the East Africa Studies and Media Centre.
